1921
Annual General Meeting
The AGM was held on 25
th
January 1921.
The name was changed from the “MIDDLSESBROUGH & DITRICT
MOTORCYCLING CLUB” to “MIDDLESBROUGH & DISTRICT MOTOR CLUB”.
Matt Jefferson, who had served the Club for many years as Chairman was, on
the 31
st
January 1921 elected permanent Chairman of the Committee. At the
same meeting it was reported that he was indisposed and W Ryan was elected
Deputy Chairman.
At a meeting on 24
th
February Mr Jefferson resigned his post as Chairman
which was accepted with regret.
It was eventually decided to collect subscriptions for a testimonial to Mr
Jefferson.
On April 21
st
1921 Phil Bach offered a room for a meeting at the Empire Hotel,
Middlesbrough, free of charge. Advantage of this was taken until the Club
acquired its own premises.

The 2 Hon-Secretaries were re-elected but it was decided to appoint a
third and T L Calvert was elected.

Committee:
M Jefferson, W Ryan, G H Blackburn, A Young,
S Jones, J T Jobborn, R L Freeman, F Shepherd and A Blackburn
A special meeting of the Committee was convened to consider the organisation
of the forthcoming Saltburn Speed Trials. This was attended by many of the
Vice Presidents and in order to provide money for the various trophies which
were to be offered, G B Craig and J Mills contributed £20.00 each, President
John Gjers £10.00 for a Cup for the fastest time of the day. (This cup is now in
the Club having been given in the Will of the late F W Dixon). A number of other
Vice Presidents contributed 5 guineas each. And so were purchased the 3
Challenge Cups for a 20 mile Yorkshire Championship which are still being
competed for today and there was a special 3 lap race for amateurs i.e. Experts
barred. Financially the Saltburn Event showed a credit balance of £80.
