1920
The A.G.M. was held in Hintons Cafe on Thursday, 26th February, the Chair
being taken by M.Jefferson. The Balance Sheet and Committee's Report was
submitted by the Hon. Secretaries and was accepted.
This
recorded
a
membership of 151, an increase of 36 over the previous year, The Income was
£62,19.4d and Expenditure £36,18.8d, leaving a balance in hand of £26,0.8d.
The Assets were valued at £35,16.2d and Liabilities at £8.
M.Jefferson gave a report on a meeting of representatives of 20 Clubs at York to
consider the Richmond Meet on Good Friday. It was resolved that the yearly
subscription be increased to 10/6d and the Secretaries be paid 3/0d per head on
the male members with a minimum of £10/10/0d.
Club Premises
Suggested that the Committee seek out suitable quarters for a. Club Room.
G.W.Liddle thought that the funds of the Club would not be able to stand the
expense of a Social Club Room and that the matter should be put to the whole
of the members.
Officers Elected:
President J,Gjers, Vice-Presidents - S,Sadler, F.Scott, W.Asmstrong,
H.E.Kitching, C.McAdams. F,Rist, T.J,Crombie, W.Sanderson, W.Rudland and
R.S,Scoon. Captain J,Gilchrist.
In accepting the appointment Mr Gilchrist also thanked the members for the
handsome present made to him on the occasion of his marriage.
Vice-Captain F.Dixon.
Hon-Secretaries, H.S.Williams and J.Ogilvie who were also to take on
the Treasurership.
Committee - W.Ryan, A.W.Foster, M.Jefferson, A.Young, G.H.Blackburn,
W.Randall, H.V.Taylor, R.Freernan, F.Garvey.
It is noted that G W Liddle failed to gain election by 1 vote. He later resigned his
position as guarantor of all cups and his membership of the club, which was
accepted with regret.
The Annual Dinner
This was revived and was held at the Wellington Hotel on 14
th
December and for
the first time lady members were present. It is reported that the ladies added
“charm and glamour to the proceedings” holding there own in an excellent
manner, resulting in a most successful and enthusiastic function. Following the
success of this function the Committee, following an urgent request, promoted a
Whist Drive & Dance in the Town Hall, Middlesbrough on Friday 4
th
February
1921, the tickets for same being 10/6d each.
During the early part of the year J Ogilvie resigned his position as one of the
secretaries and H Vernon Taylor resigned his position on the Committee. A
Blackburn was appointed in his place. The Committee found difficulty in
