request from Worcester but that an effort would be made to send a team to
Wakefield. Requests for matches were also received from Derby Motor Club,
Darlington Motor Club, British Legion, Staindrop in the grounds of Raby Castle.
It was decided to obtain Club Banner and Club Flags.
A cheque for 9 guineas was sent to the North Ormesby Hospital to buy a cot in a
new ward,
A sub-committee appointed to further consider the matter of a Clubhouse,
The Mayor of Middlesbrough, Ald.Ed.Turner was promoting a Carnival in
M.iddlesbrougn and W.Ryan and A.Blackburn were appointed to represent the Club
at the meeting to consider same.
March 11th. Whist Drive & Dance was organised, tickets being 4/6d, Supper 2/6d,
band £3/5/0d the booking of the Town Hall for thathe Annual Ball was approved of.
Trustee in respect of investments were appointed – John Gjers, A.W.Foster,
J.Gilchrist.
Agreed to get a list of names and addresses of motorists in Middlesbrough from the
Town Clerk at a cost of 10/6d.
Harold Darcy, having offered to advise the Club free of charge and to give service to
members at a reduced fee, was invited to attend future committee meetings.
We now get the first mention of Muir Bedall, Insurance Brokers, who were asked for
a quotation in respect of the Saltburn Speed Trials.
A Gymkhana on Saturday, May 23rd. The Sub-Committee appointed to organise
same was given power to spend 10% of the Club funds as at 31st Dec.1924 in
connection with this.
Purchase of a Typewriter for the sum of £9.15,Od was agreed.
Speed Events on Public Roads. It was reported that the Yorkshire Centre Board had
agreed to abide by the A.C.U's ruling in this matter.
Saltburn Speed Trials. Decided to engage the services of A.V.Hebblewhite as
Timekeeper and Handicapper and to accept the tender of G,Hudson & Sons for work
in connection with laying out the course. A.V.Hebblewhite wrote that he was unable
to accept. Harold Darcy was appointed Chief Lap Scorer and C.W,Smith Chief
Marshal in place of G.B. Craig who was unable to attend.
It was decided to ask the Police to be present at 10 a.m. and to allow the St.John
Ambulance Brigade to take a collection. To purchase 6 garden tents for use of
timekeepers and lap-scorers and to arrange for chairs to be obtained from the
Saltburn U.D.C. Messrs Winterschladen to obtain a licence. Decided to print 2,500
programmes to be sold at 1/0d each and to have the usual dinner at the conclusion
of the event. Agreed that all adjustments during the race must be made by the
