Section of the A.C.U. or a separate controlling body was being canvassed. This was
eventually resolved when T.W.Loughborough, A.C U Secretary came to a Centre
Board Meeting at Leeds.
A Smoking Concert was held in the Corporation Hotel.
Secretaries' Honorarium. A total of £45 was approved.
Reported that the stopping place of tramcars at the junction of the Crescent and
Roman Road had been altered as per the Club's suggestion in Feb.1923 and it was
agreed to thank the Town Clerk in the Press in respect of this.
Agreed to open a subscription list to provide a wedding present for Mr F.W.Dixon on
the occasion of his marriage, bride being Miss M.A.G. (Dolly) Thew. Many prominent
racing motorcyclists were present.
Yorkshire Centre Meeting and Annual Dinner. W.Ryan, C..W.Smith and Hon.Sec. to
represent the Club at the Annual Dinner and the following were nominated for
officials in 1926;-
President - F.Roper. V/Presidents - W.Ryan, H.Robinson, F.Cleveland,
T.W.Monkhouse. Hon.Sec. - W.A.Dovenor. Hon.Solicitor - J.Conchar.
Hon.Treasurer - S.M.Hay.
A.C.U. Delegates - F.B.Boper and F.Cleveland.
A presentation of a Silver Cigarette Case suitably inscribed was made to Harry
Langman in recognition of his great act of sportsmanship, he being a professional
rider, that would have done credit in the highest realms of amateur sport. In the last
race of the day he went back to the start to give his only other competitor who had
failed to start at the fall of the flag, another chance. This after a very bad day for Mr
Langman.
Decided to apply for an Open (Nat) date for Saltburn Speed trials on July 17th 1926.
A reported loss on the year's workings of £15 was discussed and it was decided to
value the typewriter and the 6 tents at 25% less Cost which would more than wipe
out the deficit and to recommend that Rule 3 be altered to allow the Hon.Solicitor to
have a seat on the Committee and to reserve the Town Hall for Friday, Nov.26th
1926 for the Annual Ball.
New Members. 88 were elected including Miss K.Liddle and C.Kirton both of whom
are still members. Also including Miss P.Lomas, Mr F.C.Barker, E.B.Young,
W.McMaster, Miss Berry, Mr G.E.Parkinson and C.H.Allan.
Winners of Events were:-
Novice Trial - G.M.Liddle Memorial Cup - J.F.Dixon. 34 entries.
Ryan Trial - Tie between R.S.Richardson and A.V.Buttress, and J.F.Dixon. After
a run-off the Cup was awarded to K.S.Richardson.
